BIO

Sami Korkiakoski (b. 1978) is a professional artist based in Finland. He received a Master of Arts (MA)
from the University of Art and Design, Helsinki, in 2007, and a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from the
Academy of Fine Arts, Helsinki, in 2013. Korkiakoski has worked as an artist full time ever since his
M.A. degree. He exhibits his work regularly in galleries and museums, and his pieces are found in
various collections, including the state of Finland, Sara Hildén Art Museum, and Wäinö Aaltonen Art
Museum. Korkiakoski’s painting process and art works are expressionistic. His signature mark consist
of a rhythmic line created intuitively, reflecting the artist’s feelings through the canvas to the
viewer’s senses. Korkiakoski is at his best when painting large pieces. In addition to individual pieces,
he has created mind-blowing extravaganzas of line in the form of installations consisting of up to 300
paintings. In the installations, the line not only explores the canvases but also the empty wall in
between, and the canvases can also extend to the floor in carefully-planned piles and formations to
create an even more powerful experience.
